EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Programme Intern: UNHCR Ghana (The UN Refugee Agency). Accra, Ghana. May-December 2006
Assisted the Programme Unit in the following capacities:
· Budget planning and programming for all aspects of the Ghana Refugee Programme.
· Implementation, monitoring and evaluation of UNHCR Standards and Indicators in UNHCR operations.
· Collaboration with operational and implementing partners on project implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
· Participation in team mission to interview refugees in Krisan Refugee Settlement from Sierra Leone, Rwanda, DRC, Congo-Brazzaville, Sudan, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, and Togo for resettlement.
Led socioeconomic survey in Buduburam Refugee Camp interviewing 300 households (nearly 2000 individuals):
· Designed questionnaire and action plan for a socioeconomic survey of the Buduburam Refugee Settlement to assess the health, education, sanitation, and economic situation of refugees.
· Hired, trained, and monitored a team of 12 interviewers.
· Interviewed implementing partners.
· Led focus group with leaders in the camp to help interpret survey findings.
· Analyzed survey data and wrote a report to propose a phase out strategies of UNHCR operations.
Supervised field work for World Food Programme (WFP) household nutrition survey in Buduburam Camp.
· Acted as UNHCR focal person in Buduburam for three-region WFP research.
· Monitored daily progress of interviewers in camp.

· Taught history to junior high school girls from the Rocinha (Rio’s largest slum) in the evenings.
Program Director: El Barrio’s Operation Fightback, Inc. (EBOF), a community development NGO in East Harlem. NY, NY. July 2003- June 2004
Directed Park Avenue Family Center, a division of EBOF. Conceptualized and developed new programs, enhanced existing programs, procured large portion of PAFC’s funding, and doubled community participation in center.
Planned and Implemented the Following Programs:
· Children’s After-school Program: Developed and implemented a curriculum, and taught children of various cultures. Helped improve grades of over 80% of center’s children. Nearly doubled after-school program attendance.
· Family Advocacy Program (FAP): Administrated program and liaised between EBOF and funding organizations.
· Teen Program: Obtained grant to start a teen program. Designed the program’s structure, goals, and physical space.
· Informal Family Daycare Providers’ Support Group Program: Wrote and secured grant to create support groups. Recruited all members, structured program, researched topics, and led all group meetings.
